Biographical

Dave was born and raised in the Boston area. After high school, he headed west, attending the University of Arizona in Tucson, earning a dual B.A. in Political Science and Spanish, before moving on to law school at U.C. Davis.  Dave started his legal career with a large firm in Fresno before relocating to Napa in 1989, where he joined Gaw, Van Male et al.  Starting in 1995, Dave operated a successful solo practice before joining Dickenson, Peatman & Fogarty in 2004, serving as Managing Director during 2011.  Seeking a return to a small law firm environment, Dave left DP&F in 2012 to join attorneys David Hines and John Carr of Hines & Carr in forming Hines Carr Diamond LLP.

Dave has been a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law (State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization) since 1993. He has been recognized by San Francisco Magazine as a Northern California “Super Lawyer” for several consecutive years.  Dave is a member of the American Bar Association Section on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, and the California State Bar Trusts and Estates Section.  He has been published in California Trusts & Estates Quarterly and has given numerous educational presentations for California Continuing Education of the Bar, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and many other organizations.

Dave resides in Sonoma with his wife, Diana, and four daughters. He is an avid sports fan and supports the San Francisco Giants, but also remains a proud member of the Red Sox Nation. Dave is actively involved (Diana would say to excess) with the Sonoma Valley Youth Soccer Association as a coach and referee.  Dave also enjoys commuting to the office on his motorcycle, watching sports and politics on television, cooking, drinking wine, and hanging out at home with Diana and the family.
